I would definitely advocate waiting for the dust to settle, and then
some, unless you have problems with any packages atm. I haven't
personally updated my LaTeX distribution for almost a year and a
half, and I am very happy with it as it is (thanks Gerben!). I don't
really find much need to be in the cutting edge for TeX, certainly
not if things are working for you.
