Thanks for the detailed instructions. Except that (4) above doesn't
work. From the US at least, searching for "exlive2005-
inst-20051102.iso" brings up a variety of links but none to a .dmg
file. Searching around some more, I found a link to a PPC .dmg, but
not to an Intel one.
I probably can find the relevant link by searching more. And I've
been using Unix since 1979, so I'm pretty comfortable with the
command line. But this shows clearly why even the best instructions
are not as good as an automated system like i-Installer. Why do we
have computers, if not to manage repetitive, finicky bureaucratic
chores for us?
