No, the setup is a standard Textures setup.

TheLaTeXBook.sty was written by the book designer; it works under
Textures, OzTeX, PCTeX -- any TeX I had to use. I could try it under
MikTeX.
It redefines chapter headings, TOC, defines a short TOC, etc.
This is the first TeX implementation it does not like.
