Oh, a question concerning fonts I am able to reply: You must open the  
well-known file

/usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf/web2c/texmf.cnf

and add

extra_mem_bot.xetex = 0
extra_mem_bot.xelatex = 0

I had the same problem, and it really disappeared after adding the two  
lines.
