[OS X TeX] Equations in picture environment

Here's one I've used, copied straight from the .tex file:

\put(20,-2){\makebox(0,0){$\mu_k=0.05$, $\mu_s=0.08$}}

I prefer \rput from pstricks and have used that now for a long time, so 
I don't remember all the bits that go with \makebox.
