The pages show that Mac Mini has a built-in brake: the Toshiba MK
8025GAS disk. The mentioned Hitachi Travelstar 7K60 rotates at 7.200
rpm, it might be a bit loud. I'd recommend to compare it to a new
Fujitsu disk, the MHV2100AH. Though it has only 5.400 rpm it has more
bits per cylinder, so it's faster reading and writing than other 5.400
models -- and since it has 70% more capacity than the 7K60 their speed
benefit of 30% melts. It'll fit to the RoHS directive of the EU
(Restriction of Hazardous Substances in the European Union) and it'll
show even less power consumption. Very silent. Expect it on the market
around CeBIT or Easter. Price? Half a Mac Mini? OK. I don't know ...
