[OS X TeX] LaTeX Equation Editor, LaTeXiT and XeTeX

I use a TeXShop install via GW iInstaller. Including the XeTeX package.
OS 10.3.x and 10.4. I am not a developer, only a TeX user.

Can LaTeX Equation Editor and/or LaTeXiT be used with XeTeX? If so, how do I direct the tool to use XeTeX? 

Basic motivation: font flexibility.
