I meant: pdfcprot is nicer than \input protcode.tex etc.  Also,it was 
just announced that they found two volunteers to take up maintenance of 
pdfcprot.

Yes, it's just that the documentation of microtype claims that the 
character protrusion part would work starting with pdfTeX 0.14f.
