If you are the only user: ~/Library/texmf
If there are more users using the extra stuff: texmf.local. If you add
anything to texmf.local you need to update the fast-file-lookup cache
with the command
sudo mktexlsr /usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf.local
no such command is necessary for ~/Library/texmf
If you do add additional stuff, if something goes wrong, don't blame my
distribution before you know it also happens without that stuff ;-)
