[OS X TeX] TeXShop Feature Request

Hello all -

I'm not sure if this is the proper forum for such a request, if not, I 
apologize.

I'd like to see a save feature much like I used to have with emacs in 
that when the TeX document is saved, a backup copy is saved to some 
predetermined location.  In emacs (via your dotfile) you can limit the 
number of backup versions that are kept and so forth.

If it isn't possible to add this to the software, can I write my own 
script that TeXShop will use?  TIA
