The simple translation is: add all of your own sty files, etc, to the
``TeX tree'' (one of those locations in which LaTeX, etc, look for
files when processing). The appropriate place to do this is
/Users/<username>/Library/texmf/ (otherwise known as ~/Library/texmf/
).

Now, since there are many different types of files that go in there, it
is partitioned up with lots (and lots) of sub-folders. The short
answer, again, is to move your .sty file to ~/Library/texmf/tex/latex/
.

Of course, if any of these folders don't exist, you should create them.
If you have other types of files, look in the main tex tree and see how
it's done in there and mirror its directory structure:

/usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf.tetex/

You can get there in the Finder with the "Go to Folder..." command in
the Go menu.

Hope that helps!
Will
