[OS X TeX] Revisiting Using Hoefler Text Inside TeX

Thanks much for the reply.

I have already done all of what you mentioned. My only complaints are 
the missing dotless i (\i) and the lack of ligatures (ff, etc).

On your machine, are you able to produce the ligatures?

I use pdflatex. Does this matter?
