There're two files there:

CGPDFContext.h
CGPDFDocument.h

It uses Mach ``Inter Process Communication'' (IPC) so that the viewing  
program is informed when a given page is completely written out in the  
.dvi so that it may display it while the tex process continues on with  
the balance of the document.

This makes TeXview.app feel much faster and more responsive than TeXshop

Apparently this has been carried forward to ``dvichop'' which is used  
in some more recent projects.
