the trouble is that (unlike tk on other platforms) AquaTk does not
handle unicode text display & editing very well/at all at present
since it still relies on the old model of mac encodings & associated
fonts that was implemented on classic MacOS.
It may take just as long for that to change as it will for AlphaX
since many of the same people are involved in both projects :-)
if anybody familiar with ATSUI and carbon inline text input would
like to help out, feel free ...
