[Mac OS X TeX] Mac PS fonts into TeXShop/teTeX/PDFTeX?

The problem is that Macs store fonts in funky lwfn resource / data fork
files which no other OS handles :(

You need a program which'll convert from the Mac lwfn / screen font pair
and give you back a .pfb (or .pfa) and .afm pair.

I suggested Frank Siegert port his wonderful FontConverter.app
(available from www.this.net/~frank) if you've access to a NeXT system,
but no movement on that :( but at least pStill.app is available.

I use Ares FontHopper myself, but it was discontinued when Adobe bought
out Ares. PyrusNA, the FontLab people have a similar tool, though it
doesn't do as well in reviews. www.pyrus.com should be the URL, or
there'll be a link from www.fontlab.com There're some shareware programs
as well, but I don't think they do the .afm thing that well, and if it's
not done well, you'll lose all the kerning pairs which're stored in the
Mac screen font.

However, Macs can now use most PC font formats (but not NeXT .font
bundles!?!?), so if you can lay your hands on a ``sidegrade'' you're all
set.
