[lucida] Lucida installation problem

Hello
Several years ago I bought a copy of Lucida from TUG, and have been
using it happily in MikTeX. I now have a replacement laptop running Unix
rather than Windows (the version is Lubuntu 16.04.2) and I now want to
use Lucida on my new machine.
I installed TeX Live from the TeX Collection 2017 DVD, and also
TeXworks. I then followed the instructions from the "Installing TeX
fonts - TeX Users Group" webpage, but get errors both from testfont and
when attempting to compile lucida-sample.tex in TeXwoIrks.
The puzzle is that, before the new laptop arrived, I tried out this
installation routine on another old laptop, and it works there, even
though I think I followed exactly the same procedure in the two cases
(with the sole exception that TeX Live on the old machine was the full
CTAN version, as I hadn't yet received the DVD).
I'd be grateful for any advice.
Thanks
David
