[luatex] Text as Paths

Is it possible to have Lua(La)TeX produce a document where the text in the
output PDF are "stroked/filled paths" instead of "selectable
characters/words"?  I have written a script (using Inkscape) to convert
each page of a PDF to SVG pages (with non-editable text as paths) and
convert these pages back to a PDF, but I was wondering if this can be done
with Lua(La)TeX.
