[luatex] Two likely related problems with non-western scripts

The most M MWE I can manage to demonstrate two related (?) problems is:

\setmainfont{Latin Modern Mono}
%\setmainjfont{DFMingHK} % (no Japanese kanji etc.)
\setmainjfont{Kozuka Mincho Pr6N} % (many Chinese glyphs missing)

Japanese glyphs from Kozuka Mincho Pr6N 日本.

System and TeX version: MacOS 10.8.5; MacTeX 2016 pretest, all up to
date (April 23).

Problem 1: whenever luatexja and relatives are included, the
compilation stops with the message below, hitting return gives the
same message again, then hitting return again continues compilation. If the
typeface is Kozuka Mincho, the compilation runs to the end.

luaotfload | resolve : method "tex" resolved "cmtt9" -> cmtt9
bad argument
#1 to 'open' (string expected, got nil).
<to be read again>
l.34 \newtoks\@bannertoken

? ! Font \@bannerfont=cmtt9 not loadable: metric data not found or bad.
<to be read again>
l.34 \newtoks\@bannertoken

Problem 2: with several standard, common (commercial) Chinese typefaces
(all otf) compilation fails with this message:

luaotfload | resolve : method "name" resolved "DFMingHK" -> DFMingHK-W5
(DFMingHK-W5.otf)(compiling luc: /usr/
ad luc:
s/otl/dfminghk-w5.luc)Segmentation fault: 11

*Chinese and Japanese typefaces supplied with OSX 10.8.5 (e.g. STSong)

(Obviously everything work[s|ed] with lua(la)tex in TeXLive 2015.)

Anything I can do?
