[l2h] help for latex2html in encoding

hi latex-community,

i'm chris from germany and quite new to latex. i created a latex-document and created a pdf-file by using pdflatex. everyhing's fine.
then i wanted to create an html-file by using latex2html.
the result was like expected except the encoding. in my latex file i use utf8. then i read somewhere in the net about changing it to latin1, but this didn't work too for me.
what more can i do to use latex2html for german language?
