[l2h] ilegal seek

when using latex2html, I receive a message of the kind below while the program tries to convert math formulas to png images:

Converting image #37
pstoimg: Error: "/usr/bin/ppmquant -floyd 256 < /tmp/l2h3912/p3993.pnm | /usr/bin/pnmtopng -interlace -trans '#ffffff'  > img37.png" failed: Procura ilegal 
(note: 'Procura ilegal' means 'Ilegal seek' in portuguese)

Anyone has suggestions?
