Dear Fabrice: I will try your suggestions and I will report.

Now about xemtex-0.5-beta1.msi. I did not notice this until you call my
attention. I downloaded a fresh copy (I had a beta version but I remove it
before trying the new one). I did not type anything, I paste
and copy from your web page. But I might have done something stupid.
I will double check.

I will let you know tonite or tomorrow (Central USA time).

Best regards,

Luis A.

Well, to make it clear for every body:
- this is my first attempt to distribute an MSI file, and this one is
very large
- there is a tool to validate the structure of the msi file and xemtex
has validated the test before I put it for download;
- I have successfully installed it on a clean XP system running inside
VMWare.

That said, this is annoying. The first thing to check to can harm the
installation is the usual set of antivirus software / anti spyware.

Before retrying, make sure that the program is not half-installed (look
into
Control Panel / Add or Remove Programs).

Normally, in case of error, MSI rolls back the installation and removes
everything.

If your not sure about the status of your installation, use this
program:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/msi/setup/msizap_exe.asp

I will put msizap.exe for download tomorrow. Use this command line:
msizap T {53EB1169-805C-4A3A-86B1-7F170D2B30EE}

to remove any information about the previous attempts.

Fabrice

PS: strangely, your attachement shows xemtex-0.5-beta1.msi . Did you try
an old version ?
