[fptex] making proofs

I hadn't thought of that, I do use a reasonable number of equations.

I don't mind so much if there are extra line numbers spanning equations 
since equation numbers can be referenced by there own numbering; as long 
as each line of text has a matching line number then that would be very 
useful.

I'll look into pstricks and lineno.sty (thanks Herbert).
