Hello,

I had the St Mary's Road symbol fonts installed in the local texmf tree,
in E:\TeXLive\texmf-local\tex\fonts\tfm but apparently kpathsea cannot
find it. The ls-R database *has* been updated.

Here's what I did to investigate.

<quote>
F:\00work\00MyTex>cat e:\TeXLive\texmf-local\ls-R |grep stmary10.tfm
stmary10.tfm

F:\00work\00MyTex>kpsewhich stmary10.tfm

F:\00work\00MyTex>
</quote>

That is, not found. However,

<quote>
F:\00work\00MyTex>cat e:\TeXLive\texmf\ls-R |grep cmex10.tfm
cmex10.tfm
icmex10.tfm

F:\00work\00MyTex>kpsewhich cmex10.tfm
e:/TeXLive/texmf/fonts/tfm/public/cm/cmex10.tfm
</quote>

It can find .tfm files in the global texmf tree. Furthermore,

<quote>
F:\00work\00MyTex>cat e:\TeXLive\texmf-local\ls-R |grep psfig.sty
psfig.sty

F:\00work\00MyTex>kpsewhich psfig.sty
e:/TeXLive/texmf-local/tex/generic/psfig/psfig.sty
</quote>

That is, .sty file *can* be found in the local texmf tree. The version
of kpathsea is

<quote>
F:\00work\00MyTex>kpsewhich -v
kpathsea version 3.4.5

</quote>

Any idea/pointer as to what happened or is this a bug?

Cheers,
ST
