[fptex] tex4ht broken ?

Hi!
I tried a very minimum configuration (latexwise) and yet got the same=20
response. The file is like this

\documentclass{article}
\begin{document}
\section {first section}
Hello World
\end{document}

The response was identical though, latex ran 3 times and when called=20
tex4ht ended abruptally. Here goes part of the log file

Output written on html.dvi (1 page, 6084 bytes).
Transcript written on html.log.
