Even if you don't want to actually run it, I'd be pleased to get a log
file (I wonder about your network mounted texmfmain).

set KPATHSEA_DEBUG_OUTPUT=err.log
set KPATHSEA_DEBUG=-1
fmtutil --byfmt=pdflatex --fmtdir=.

and send me err.log
