On 2002/05/23 I have updated 8y.etx accordingly; see my posting 
(Subject: "up-to-date 8r.etx and 8y.etx") to this list.  
Unfortunately, it seems as if this version of 8y.etx was lost 
in the meantime.

Please, add the following declaration as the first slot in the 
encoding:

  \nextslot{1}
  \setslot{Euro}
     \comment{The European currency sign `\texteuro'.}
  \endsetslot
