you can simply put a .notdef glyph there, but you should make sure
that the TFM file declares this character as having zero-width and a
height of lowercase letters.
btw, does anybody know if unicode character set contains compwordmark?
and is there a perthousandzero in unicode? (is it the same as
zeroinferior, or these are different characters?)
