The standard advice is just to use \includegraphics{keg} then each system
will use the extension that it can support, .(e)ps with latex/dvips
and .pdf with pdflatex.  Note the class in use such as article is unrelated
to
this, what matters is which tex backend you use so dvips or pdftex in this
case.
