You are aware that LaTeX is not a point and click application? It is more of a compiler. Thus northing is added to your desktop.
You need an editor or IDE.
If you are a complete beginner, then TeXMaker might be a good choice.
You will also need to read some introductory information, for example the Not So Short, see http://ctan.org/tex-archive/info/lshort/english

Subject: [texhax] how do I run Tex Live 2015 on my Windows 8.1 computer?
I competed the install process (as best I can determine). For example, Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features gives me a means to “uninstall or change a program” and lists TeX Live 2015 as a program for which I can do an uninstall.
Yet, I have been unable to find a way to run TeX Live 2015. For example, there is no shortcut on my desktop. There is no ‘tile’ on my start screen.
(The start screen [details section] does tell me that I have a new app – Word-to-Latex. I downloaded that earlier today. It also automatically installed as a tab in ‘the ribbon’ in my version of Word. I used word to create LaTEX output.)
But I do not see anything related to TeX Live on the start screen or the details section of the start screen.
What do I need to do to use the program? Please give adequate detail (without jargon) – just a process I can follow easily.
And, if possible, please let me know how to get an icon for the program into the desktop’s task bar.
