Might be an idea to report this to the TeXLive mailing list instead, see tug.org

Subject: [texhax] BasicTex on Mac
Just letting you know that the 08 August 2014 version of BasicTeX does not seem to be properly installing the man pages on OS X 10.10 or 10.9. No man pages are found.
While /etc/manpaths.d contains a link to /usr/local/texlive/2014basic/texmf-dist/doc/man, that directory does not exist. Nor am I able to locate a man directory in the /usr/local/texlive tree that is installed (or in the /Library/TeX directory tree).
Regards,
Harry Rowe
