I'd be interested if you could substantiate your claims and they do
not match my experience or my understanding. Concretely, using a
32-bit binary, you often effectively use half the memory (and thus
half the cache) that a 64-bit version would use: pointers are just
half the size. Given register aliasing, the increase in available
registers on AMD64 is nice, but also not a serious advantage.
