My tests gave this solution (not very TeX-like) 

\setbox0\hbox{$\displaystyle\sum^\infty_{k=1}$}

$$\copy0\raisebox{2ex}{\hbox{\ensuremath\prime}}$$

or (with more - unwanted - horizontal space)

$$\sum^\infty_{k=1}\raisebox{2ex}{\hbox{\ensuremath\prime}}$$
