[texhax] putting LaTeX author and title into .pdf description

When I applied your suggested code all white spaces disappeared in the
title and author fields. The solution for me was to use the
pdfusetitle option for the hyperref package
(http://www.ctan.org/tex-archive/macros/latex/contrib/hyperref/README):

\usepackage[pdftex,pdfusetitle]{hyperref}

Hopefully it can solve your line break problem as well...
