[texhax] BibTeX author names

Hi,
I produced a style file to meet the needs of a journal submission. I
selected:
Surname + pure initials (Smith JF)
for formatting author names in the list of references. The entries in my
*.bib files have the names as "Smith, J.F.". However, when running bibtex
with this style file produces "Smith J"; i.e. the second initial is
ignored. Going through the style file, especially the format.names
function, it's not clear to me what should be tweaked to produce the
complete name abbreviation ("Smith JF"). I would appreciate any
suggestions on how to hack this.
Cheers,

Seb
