    I should be surprised if "TeX" launches PdfeTeXK: that does not sound
    compatible with Knuth's wishes at what may be called "TeX".

Indeed, as things stand, "tex" is the only thing which runs the original
program.  Everything else runs pdfetexk (or aleph or omega or whatever).

Given sufficient compatibility definitions loaded, I think "tex" could
invoke pdfetexk too, but I haven't thought too deeply about it (nor do I
intend to).
