[texhax] spell checker

I still use ispell, but i also recommend aspell.  also look at the untex
package, which does a mediocre job of removing tex commands.  then I just
do:

untex file.tex | aspell

or

untex file.tex > fileuntex.tex

and use your spell check in your editor.
