[texhax] \usepackage[pdftex] and \section

i'm using a custom section command, thanks to
http://www.iam.ubc.ca/~newbury/tex/page-set-up.html, with the article
class:

\newcommand{\mysection}[1]              % In 'article' only the page
	{                               % number appears in the header.
	\section{#1}                    % I want the section name AND
	}                               % of '\sekshun' command.
%% used as follows :
\mysection{\relsize{-1.6} this is a section}

... and its great, except when i start using the pdftex package, i get
complaints like :

! Argument of \rs at autoTOL has an extra }.

... so before i go edit everything, wouldn't \section{this is a section}
do the same thing?
