[texhax] wrapfigure suddenly not working

I found the error.  None of the possibilities you mentioned (but they 
are useful to keep in mind nevertheless), but as usual something very 
simple.

I used the construction \quote{String to be quoted} before the first 
wrapfigure.  This worked fine in respect to the appearance of the 
quote, but was the cause of the trouble further down.  Replacing that 
construction with \begin{quote} ... \end{quote} did the trick.
