I really did put a good effort toward this problem before I posted...
I have read all of the "listings" documentation, plus the explanation
of "listings" in the Latex Companion. I must be missing something...
It seems that when using listings, you have to manually type in the
amount whitespace of indent for each line of code, which to me totally
negates the benefit of using Latex in the first place. I don't want to
have to worry about formating when I am typing in the text. Especially
something as mind numbingly tedious as the indent formating of XML
nesting.
