[texhax] \vline and fat column rules

Hello everybody,

inside a tabuler I want to seperate some groups of columns from each
other, therefore I alter the width of the column rules by something
like

\global\savedwidth\arrayrulewidth%
\global\arrayrulewidth 1pt}%
\vline%
{\global\arrayrulewidth\savedwidth}

everything works fine, except that the rule is shifted a little bit to
the left. How can I manage that my \vline is in flush with the rest of
the column rule? So far I tried \hfill but it did not work.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
