This is a very, very gross hack, but, if you're in a hurry, I think it does
what you want:
...
\end{center}
where
\parbox[t]{15cm}{\vspace*{-1.5\baselineskip}
\begin{itemize}
\item $S_r$ = solar radiance
\item FPAR = fraction of absorption of photosynthetically active radiation
...
\end{itemize}
}
