I think I remember that David Ness was behind the TV Guide project,
and I think I remember also that a good many issues actually
came out from the TeX project.  It did involve a lot of
independent processing to get the parshapes right, and it was
in no sense WYSIWYG.

I also remember that a corporate takeover was one of the chief
reasons that the TeX approach was dropped.
