[texhax] two questions about bibtex: notes field,
and citations for different pages in a book

Thanks. Just to clarify it for me: if I have no unpublished
manuscripts in my list of references, is the "note" field free for me
to use as I wish? Or should/can I create a new field in each record,
into which I can scribble my own notes about the paper?
I will review all the documentation on the natbib package, to see how
the page numbers work. But briefly, would I need to put a separate
citation in my bibtex file for each range of pages from a single book
that I plan to cite? Or do I just make one entry in my bibtex file for
the book as a whole, and then put the page numbers in "manually,"
something like
blah blah blahblah \cite{Ryan2003 [pages 10-12]} blah blah
Thanks again for your help.
