[texhax] A Question about Tex and Graph Theory

Russ,

    First I want to thank you for your response. I am in the processing of
trying the xy package. However, I have run into an error message that does
not make any sense to me. Please consider the following input:

    \documentclass[a4paper,11pt]{article}
    \usepackage{xy}
    % define the title
    \title{xy~~~test}
    \author{Robert~J~Sherry}
    \begin{document}
    % generates the title
    \maketitle
    \end{document}

When I run this LaTex I get the error message:
     LaTeX Error: Two \documentclass or \documentstyle commands.
on line one. It seems to me that I have only one documentlcass defined. Can
you
please tell me what I am doing wrong. Thanks.
