[XeTeX] XeTeX 0.997 on Windows with texlive

After watching Jonathan's presentation at TUG2007 I wanted to install
XeTeX Dev 0.997 from Akira Kakuto's webpage, where he explains how to 
install and run his w32tex together with texlive 
(http://www.fsci.fuk.kindai.ac.jp/kakuto/win32-ptex/web2c75-e.html)

But although I got something to work a few months ago, I now always get
(from a cmd window) the following error message in a popup immediately 
when I type the command xetex

xetex.exe - Application error

The application failed to initialize propoerly (0xc00000022). 
Click on OK to terminate the application.

Does anybody have a hint about what this can be due to. Many thanks.

PS. As I have to give a presentation about Xe(La)TeX soon to the French
    TeX Users Group I would like to include all the nice new features 
    Jonathan showed in San Diego, hence my desire to go to 0.997. Or does 
    somebody already prepare a new updated compiled version of TeXlive for 
    the xetex tree?
