A better option would, IMHO, be to use \usepackage{doublespace} in the
header, and then,

\singlespace %for parts of the document you want to be single spaced

and

\doublespace %for parts which have to be doublespaced

Of  course, other options  in this  thread will  give a  finer grained
control, over layout, but this is quite simple (at least, for me).
