Hi,
      With pdflatex, the following does not work: I expect to get
gray-colored first column and first three rows

\begin{table*}[!t]
\centering
\caption{ABCD}
\begin{tabular}{>{\columncolor[gray]{0.9}}c|c|c|c|c|c|c|c|c} \hline
\rowcolor[gray]{0.9}
&  \multicolumn{8}{c}{\# of Processors} \\
\rowcolor[gray]{0.9}
L & \multicolumn{2}{c|}{2} & \multicolumn{2}{c|}{4} & \multicolumn{2}{c|}{8}
& \multicolumn{2}{c}{16} \\[2mm]
\rowcolor[gray]{0.9}
N & V & C & V & C & V & C & V & C \\ \hline \hline

$L$ & 8 & 3 & 4 & 48 & 21 & 23 & 73 & 11 \\ \hline
$L5$ & 25  & - &  10  & - & 50 & - & 31 & - \\ \hline \hline
\end{tabular}
\label{size}
\end{table*}

I am using the color (with [dvipsnames,usenames] options), array, colortbl
package.

Any pointers as to what's wrong above.

Thanks,
Arun
