   1) How to pass arguments to latex commands. I need the following:

   \newcommand{\mytt{arg}}{\texttt{arg}}

\newcommand{\mytt}[1]{\texttt{#1}}

   2) In case if i need to pass more than one arg., how to do that.

Here is an example of a command with three arguments:

\newcommand{\mymacro}[3]{\textrm{#1}\textsf{#2}\texttt{#3}}

You can pass on a maximum of 9 arguments to a single command.

   3) Is there any search facility for the old archives of this list?

Unfortunately No.
