No, I used the same compiler for everything, but I manually added one
extra flag to ICU (when the build failed, I played with it until I
succeeded) and that can easily be fixed.

I thought you had problems because you set CFLAGS=-c99 globally as
Peter suggested and libpng wasn't happy about that.
