Hello,

Two questions regarding xindy in TL2010:

(1) In clean environment, xindy-2.4 configure output looks like this:

[...]
checking for a BSD-compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c
checking whether build environment is sane... yes
checking for a thread-safe mkdir -p...
/root/TeXLive-Devel/trunk/Build/source/utils/xindy/../../build-aux/install-sh
-c -d
checking for gawk... no
checking for mawk... no
checking for nawk... nawk
checking whether gmake sets $(MAKE)... yes
checking whether to enable maintainer-specific portions of
Makefiles... no
checking for gcc... gcc
checking whether the C compiler works... yes
checking for C compiler default output file name... a.out
checking for suffix of executables...
checking whether we are cross compiling... no
checking for suffix of object files... o
checking whether we are using the GNU C compiler... yes
checking whether gcc accepts -g... yes
checking for gcc option to accept ISO C89... none needed
checking for style of include used by gmake... GNU
checking dependency style of gcc... gcc3
checking for flex... flex
checking lex output file root... lex.yy
checking lex library... -lfl
checking whether yytext is a pointer... yes
checking whether ln -s works... yes
checking build system type... x86_64-unknown-freebsd8.0
checking host system type... x86_64-unknown-freebsd8.0
checking what warning flags to pass to the C compiler... -Wimplicit
-Wreturn-type -Wdeclaration-after-statement -Wno-unknown-pragmas
checking for clisp... /root/clisp/clisp-build/clisp
checking for perl... perl
checking for latex... no
checking for elatex... no
checking for lambda... no
checking for pdflatex... no
checking for clisp runtime... /root/clisp/clisp-build/base/lisp.run
checking for strtoul... yes
configure: creating ./config.status
[...]

i.e. there is no TeX programs available. This was fatal with
xindy-2.4pre2 (xindy-new at that time). Is this a problem?

(2) It would be very useful to use clisp built without NLS support
(--disable-nls). This removes gettext dependency in resulting xindy
components (a nice thing for *BSD users who usually compile everything
on their systems, esp. having in mind very recent gettext shlib
version bump, intl.8 -> intl.9). Is this ok?

Best wishes,
